The Uttar Pradesh Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has launched the groundbreaking UP Free Scooty Yojana 2026, officially known as the Rani Lakshmi Bai Scooty Yojana. The state government has allocated a substantial budget of 400 crore rupees for this scheme in the 2026-27 fiscal year, reflecting its widespread impact.To be eligible for the scheme, applicants must be permanent residents of Uttar Pradesh and enrolled in a government or recognized college/university at the Graduation or Post-Graduation level. Preference may be given to final-year students in the initial phase. A key criterion is academic merit, requiring good scores, typically 75% to 85% or more, in their previous academic qualifications (e.g., 12th standard). Furthermore, the annual family income of the applicant should not exceed 2.5 lakh rupees, though some sources indicate a limit of up to 5 lakh rupees. Importantly, only one daughter per family is eligible to avail the benefits of this scheme.While the application dates are "likely to start soon," candidates are advised to keep necessary documents ready, including Aadhaar card, domicile certificate of UP, income certificate, mark sheets of previous classes (10th, 12th, or Graduation), college ID/admission letter, passport-size photograph, and bank passbook copy. The application process will be entirely online, managed through the official website of the Higher Education Department.
